Technically speaking, Latias came first and then they made Latios so at least that stereotype is reversed

They are partially based on Aeons which is a type of angel in gnosticism that always come in a gendered pair

When gen 3 first came out I didn’t really like them. The anime film did a lot to raise my opinion though as I liked their dynamic with Latios being the wise older brother and Latias being the wide eyed child of the two. Also the gen 3 remakes made them part of the actual story which endeared me to them a lot more. They also added that feature where you get to ride on their backs over Hoenn which was super cool.

As for many Pokemon, my first introduction to Latias was a TCG card. I had no idea about the fact it was the female one or the fact it… wasn’t a Fire type.

I like Latias for the memories, but when I think Latios, I think flying super fast through air and water in a cool way. Like Sharpedo, the aerodynamism make it fun to imagine moving.
