And we even got extra Gen 3 games in Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the Nintendo Gamecube.
Pokemon Gen 1 Games were complicated the original pair was Red & Green in Japan, Blue was the 3rd Version, we got a weird fusion of Red & Green with Blue to get International Red & Blue, then Yellow was the 4th or potentially 6th Version. Japanese Blue was notable for having Jynx exclusive wild encounters & the ability to get in game trade evos.
Yellow, crystal and emerald are the ones that stick out the most to me from my childhood. Gen 2-4 were the best to me. In fact the old 2D style was far superior for pokemon than 3D. It made exploration more fun and it just felt better. Anyone else think this?
2:15 freaky ahh golbat
Actually they haven’t made real third versions since Gen 4. Gen 5 had sequels (and they were better, but they were also different games). US/UM are also arguably worse than regular S/M in some ways and are cheap, lazy split versions instead of definitive third versions. Obviously Gen 6 didn’t even get revisits at all.
Platinum was the first Pokemon game I didn’t play thanks to college. I then went on to miss Gen 5, 5.5, and 6 before jumping in during when Gen 6 was out by getting Soul Silver. I didn’t plan to upgrade to Gen 6 or beyond and just wanted to replay Johto, but ORAS hooked me back in. I really came back with the peak games and got spoiled on HGSS and ORAS which, at least in my opinion, are the two best main series pokemon games ever made. Gen 7, 8, and 9 were entirely letdowns in follow-up to those two, but I’ve still stayed with the series and have acquired a legitimate living dex that includes all but a couple from Legends Arceus that I’m still working on.
I would love to see a new Pokemon game that follows the anime again through the first few seasons and movies. Yellow and beyond. It’s a pity Yellow was the first and last game to do this and I think it was a missed opportunity not doing it again.
nice video. can’t wait for The {ADJECTIVE] World of POKEMON on the DS!
The only time I’ve played both a first version and a third was with Diamond and Platinum. Although the changes may seem minor on paper, Platinum is a much more enjoyable experience. The dex not being limited to 151 + the Battle Frontier alone make it worth it over Diamond and Pearl imo.
I love this guys Pokémon videos
