This mod tries to fix the most DISAPPOINTING Pokémon remake

of all time by improving the graphics, gameplay mechanics, and overall experience. This includes updating the sprites, adding new features, and making the game more challenging.

how on earth did they get Gen 5 pokemon in there like Lampent and Chandalure are not suppose to be in here this is a Gen 4 game

Oh man, this remake sucks. I was expecting true to Platinum with QOL additions, and instead I got garbage “heheh it’s way harder now but here’s some free Pokémon and also quick items that are supposed to be story locked” within the first two minutes. Yeesh.

This is a good game for pokemon veterans. It’s terrible as a Pokémon game. Ignoring the difficulty, you get way too many different and powerful Pokémon from the start. There’s a reason why the early game is full of mostly trash Pokémon with maybe 1-2 that could potentially be in your champion team. While I do agree that they probably should have had a bit more variation and access to some Pokémon earlier, this ain’t it chief. Half the fun is getting new Pokémon and changing up the team with more powerful Pokémon as you go.

There are things that are good, like gym leaders having different teams. Pokémon does this to a certain extent with rebatling gyms and whatnot, but not completely knowing what you’re up against in your first run through would be fun. Gym leaders should also have more Pokémon. Especially now that you don’t need to go through a gauntlet of trainers anymore. Gym leaders should be more challenging than they are nowadays. They’re supposed to be the best in their region, so they should at least have items and some EV training.

So while I think it’s a terrible remake as a Pokémon game, there are some ideas GF should take, though not to the extreme this does.
In the end, this shouldn’t be seen as “fixing” BDSP, because it doesn’t. It’s should be seen as what it is, a challenging version for the more hardcore crowd.
Fixing would indicate that it’s a game made better and something that Nintendo should and could have released from the start. Nintendo would absolutely never make a Pokémon game like this because it would alienate their target audience. We all need to remember it’s a game for kids at the end of the day if a focus on collecting and exploring. It’s not supposed to be challenging to complete. If you want to test yourself, that’s what vs battles against other people are for.

Just want to clarify, I’m not bashing this mod. I’m just looking at it from the perspective of how it fits with official games or fixing the issues with BDSP. The mod is great for what it is and the guys who made it did a great job. I think anyone that enjoys the hardcore romhacks of the older games would really enjoy this as well.
