I always interpreted the pearl as some kind of crystal ball, like the ones fortunetellers and wizards are stereotypically associated with. That probably wasn’t the intent, though, considering that Grumpig does absolutely nothing with it.

The lighting on that chest makes it look recessed. So, does modern Grimpig have a hole in its chest? Did it hug a Lucario, making this the earliest clue to Gen. 4?

A pearl becoming a black pearl because black pearls sound cooler because humans associate black with scary/cool things

I genuinely dont understand what is the comibining theme. And why is it psychic? Wouldnt dancing be fighting or normal?
